Greetings from England

Hi there :huhu:

Wow, a fan from Nottingham? I've studied in Nottingham for a brief period and lived close to both stadiums. Where are you from? Nottingham? If you have any questions that you would like to ask or face any difficulties, just don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of service.

P.S.: Don't pay too much attention to guys like Yike who greet every newbie with greetings like 'bugger off' - we haven't managed to civilise him yet ;)

Thank you for your kind words! I am from Nottingham but I moved towns to study, and I live in Stafford now (close to Birmingham and Stoke). I appreciate the welcome I've got, I'm surprised and I feel accepted! :D

Haha, I'm sure he'll like me if he spoke to me ;)

Yike is a very special person; he is the only one I know who is able to understand more than 187 languages having finished off 6 Pints. :D

Welcome Notts! :bier:

Hahaha brilliant! I look forward to getting to know you all. I hope to learn German once I can afford tutoring, but in the meantime I hope people don't mind me using English quite a lot :(

As I said, most of the weirdos here are rather friendly and Yike's greeting is his common reply to newbies. I never managed to visit a game whilst staying in Nottingham but always wanted to. I previously lived in Portsmouth, close to Fratton Park and thus got in contact with English football. It's nice seeing that people like you are interested in such a mind-boggling club as MSV. I reckon that you would like it once you manage to come over and see MSV. :)

Our atmosphere doesn't quite match that of many German clubs, sadly. Not many fans stand up for our fan culture as much, but we're improving! We do have a strong team this year though! Oh great, I have quite a lot of friends that are Portsmouth fans :D Duisburg is twinned with Portsmouth isn't it?

To be honest, I went off football for a season because I got sick of being overcharged, and as I was a student it was hard to go to games, but seeing MSV fans support their club like they have done really moved me. I genuinely love your club! I'd love to go one day.

How did you get hold of information about our struggle with obtaining a licence, our former president, the managing director and our almost unbearable fight against regulations stipulated by DFL/DFB? Was there anything in WSC?

Hi there :)

How did you get aware of our situation last summer? Was there something broadcasted on the British press? That would be interesting for me.

Yep, you're right, Portsmouth is twinned with Duisburg, which was the reason for studying there.

We went to a match of Crystal Palace playing Blackburn Rovers last year in November and I can understand your frustration regarding prices and support (though I have to admit that I was surprised by the Crystal Palace supporters). However, I really enjoy the style in which English football players tackle their opponents, for which most German players would get booked rather early.

P.S.: What's your name?

Where did you find Information’s about our more than 50 days fight against our Ex-President, the Managing Director and also a little bit against DFL/DFB?

In WSC?

I can't remember all the websites I used, but the information was quite easy to find :) I also looked on the MSV website most days too. I think dw.de was one I used.

My friend quite likes Köln and he was looking at news stories, then made me aware of the situation. From that point I used various websites every day to keep updated :) I think you would be surprised how popular a lot of German teams are, over here!

Urgh, I can't stand Crystal Palace haha! Their supporters have only recently started their mini-ultra movement, they've not been like that for very long! Really? I think our referees are quite harsh on tackles actually, but we have a lot of play acting and diving in this country which doesn't help... although there are less players diving than before.

My name is Nick :)

I hope this is a good friend of yours, otherwise I would recommend keeping mum and not to mention the disliked 'K' word (it's kind of a rather unfriendly enmity - to say the least ;).)

Haha he is a good friend! We both support Forest, I don't know why he likes Köln, but hey - Forest beat them on our way to one of our European Cups, so we have an upper hand on them until next time ;)

Hello Nick.
Great to meet you here. You've definetly chose the right club of all the whole clubs in Germany ;)

Thanks a lot :) when the chance comes, I'd definitely love to visit! Don't worry about your English, you're better at it than half of our own population hahaha!

Dear Mr. Notts,

I hope you will stand here for many years and enjoy uns with your auslandserfahrung as long as possible.
The Nottingham Forrest is bekannt wie Hulle. Ich love the Robin Hood Streifen, where Robin Hood is giving the arme Säue the money from the reiche Schweine.
Also, I love the Film Nottingham Hill, where you can see, what is possible, if you work in a Bilder-Laden.
What more can I say?
If you need a place to stay here, in case we 'll see ya' in the Wedau-Arena, I'll be your Man. :huhu:
The underlined Words are my first Lesson in "angewandtes Deutsch" :D

Ich habe fertig :huhu:

I'll certainly be here to stay! Also, the film Notting Hill is set in London, I can see why the name would be confusing though :p
Thanks a lot for that kind offer, it means a lot and is very nice of you! I would try to not be any trouble :D

Yep Lady, my second name is global civilization! Cosmopolitan to its highest perfection.

Hey dude, what the hack are you looking for? We haven't had translated reports in English for years. And I'm wondering, how long it would take, to welcome you as our new translator. Never mind, keep up and have fun with this incredible crowd. :huhu:

Haha thanks a lot, man! I'll need to work very hard on your language if I was to be the new translator ;) but I shall try!

Good evening, Nick!

It really was a big surprise for me, reading your post. I haven't thought of our team being supported from England, so it is a very nice surprise, indeed.

Don't mind your German, lad! If you are able to understand our English, we will be able to manage vice versa, too ;)

But there are still a few words, which you just have to own as soon as possible:

Nur der MSV!
